What is the ideal temperature for a cold room?
Rombaut Plant from Oosterzele is a horticultural company that specialises in the cultivation of ornamental plants. Among other things, the company grows conifers in containers. With potted plants, it is important to monitor ground level temperatures in winter in order to take timely action against ground frost. To monitor frost, the horticultural company uses Reporter.
Preventing frost when cultivating in pots
Although light frost doesn't have to be a problem in container cultivation, temperatures of -2°C to -3°C or lower can lead to frost damage in the root zone. This is why Rombaut Plant uses a frost monitoring system to detect ground frost at ground level.
"We mounted a temperature sensor 10cm above the ground, the same height as the pots in the container field. This allows us to constantly monitor the ground frost and take appropriate measures in time."
When the temperature drops too much and crops are in danger of being damaged, growers need to turn on the irrigation system. This is where Reporter's alarm function comes in handy and Rombaut Plant can get the crop through the winter without any problems!
Reporter: remote monitoring for everyone
At Crodeon we developed Reporter, an IoT data logger that makes remote monitoring easy and can be installed and used by anyone. The simple plug & play installation and intuitive cloud platform (Crodeon Dashboard) offer the ultimate user convenience.
Reporter is compatible with its own small solar panel (or grid power) and sends its live data via the mobile data network, making the system particularly suitable for monitoring in remote locations.
Reporter has four sensor connectors to which you can connect temperature and humidity sensors, allowing data to be collected from four locations. Think of measuring at different heights, other locations in the field, shade vs sun, etc.

Dewatering is necessary when it comes to subterranean building projects. However, dewatering is not without risks, especially when dealing with saline groundwater.
