We all know the green pastures that define a golf course. But these vast plains don't solely rely on nature to keep their iconic colour.

The Royal Latem Golf Club, located in Sint-Martens-Latem near Ghent, Belgium, is a highly reputed private club that welcomes visitors from all over Europe. With its 18 holes, the parkland course is very technical and has proven challenging for golfers of every level.

Over the years, plenty of improvements to the course have ensured the players enjoy a beautiful course all year round. One of these improvements is the irrigation of the grass using groundwater.

Groundwater monitoring on a Belgian golf course

As Belgium regularly struggles with drought risk, unlimited and unregulated extraction of groundwater reserves should be limited. For this reason, the Belgian government requires large consumers of groundwater to report on their groundwater usage and its effects on the environment. To meet this legal requirement, the Royal Latem Golf Club installed Reporter. This plug & play sensor device is used to monitor their groundwater usage and assess the impact of the extraction on local groundwater levels.

The result: the golf club has shown time and time again that it stays within the permitted limits of water usage. With the help of a submersible level sensor, the club has demonstrated that the local groundwater levels quickly stabilise following sustainable irrigation of the golf course.

Monitor your groundwater use and generate easy data logs

Are you also looking for a user-friendly sensor device that logs water consumption and monitors groundwater level in your golf club? Reporter has you covered! The sensor module is easy to install and configure and logs all its measurements in the cloud in real-time.
