Rode Rozen & Tortilla's is a catering company from Delft run by two young and ambitious entrepreneurs. They provide catering on request for events, ranging from large festivals to intimate weddings. All that delicious food needs to be prepared somewhere; in an old barn, converted into a professional kitchen.
To ensure that the refrigerators and freezers are functioning correctly, Rode Rozen & Tortilla's installed Reporter for temperature monitoring.
Great Device
Rode Rozen & Tortilla's built a professional kitchen in an old barn located in the green heart between Delft, Pijnacker, and Nootdorp (the Netherlands). In the summer, it gets very warm in the building, and in the winter, it gets very cold.
In the summer of 2023, the freezer broke down, and this was only discovered later — a nightmare scenario that, unfortunately, Crodeon hears all too often. To prevent such an incident from happening again, Rode Rozen & Tortilla's decided to install a reliable system for monitoring the temperature in the refrigerators. This led the business owners to Reporter, a plug & play sensor module that logs temperature measurements and acts as an alarm system when a temperature threshold is exceeded.
“If a refrigerator or freezer gets too warm, I receive an alarm notification. This way, I stay constantly informed about whether everything is okay. Luckily, since the breakdown in the summer of 2023, we haven't experienced any further issues with the freezer. I did, however, receive alerts when our drink cooler was left open for a bit too long during a delivery. It wasn't really a big problem, but it's great to be aware of what's happening in real-time. It's a great device.”
Reporter streams all its live data to the cloud via the mobile data network (2G/4G). This cloud platform, called the Crodeon Dashboard, is a user-friendly web application where you can view your real-time data and download historical data in the form of clear logs. With a temperature sensor, this results in automatic and ready-made HACCP temperature logs.
“It's great that Reporter keeps a temperature log automatically. This no longer needs to be done manually, saving me some time at the end of the day.”
