At Crodeon, our sensor adapters play a crucial role in connecting external sensors to our monitoring system: Reporter. But what exactly are these adapters, and how do they work?
What is a sensor adapter?
A sensor adapter acts as a bridge between various types of sensors and Reporter, the main monitoring device. It translates the raw measurement data into something Reporter can easily understand. Think of it as an interpreter for measurement data.
Not all sensors are created equal—different sensors have different outputs (analog, digital, UART, I2C, Modbus, RS-485, 4-20 mA, etc). A sensor adapter standardises these outputs, so the data can be easily understood by Reporter.
By using a separate interpretive module per sensor, you can connect virtually any (type of) sensor to Reporter. Since the interpretation module is not built into our sensor device directly, it comes with very few limitations. New types of adapters can be designed to support an even wider array of sensor types.
How does it work?
Signal Conversion: The adapter converts signals from the sensor to a format readable by Reporter.
Compatibility: Whether your sensor uses 4-20 mA, 0-10V, or digital outputs, the right adapter ensures compatibility.

Our adapters work with a wide range of sensors. This flexibility makes it easy for industries, from agriculture to manufacturing, to research and construction, to integrate existing sensors into our monitoring system.
