About the frost detection kit

The remote monitoring system consists of a plug & play sensor module (Reporter), two complete relative humidity and temperature sensors, and a with a solar panel for outdoor power supply.

Suitable for any remote outdoor location within reach of the cellular data network. This frost detection kit is a perfect example of a real-time frost monitoring and alert system.

Alarm notifications for frost detection

Reporter detects temperature drops by using its two RH sensors. In the Crodeon Dashboard you can configure temperature alarms for when a certain limit is exceeded. If your set threshold is crossed, Reporter will send a real-time alarm notification to your phone through text message, phone call, or email.

Crodeon Cloud

This remote temperature monitoring system, called Reporter, sends its data to the Crodeon Dashboard (cloud) where all data is automatically logged. Reporter will keep an eye on your crops and warn you through real-time alarm notifications (sent to your phone or email) if frost is threatening your fruit blossoms.

Live and historic data can be accessed 24/7 in the Dashboard through your web browser of choice, no custom software installation needed! All measurements and alarm settings can be changed in the Dashboard.

User-friendly

Reporter was designed to be as user-friendly as possible, making it possible for anyone to install the system themselves without any prior technical knowledge. Keep an eye on the sudden onset of frost through Reporter, your reliable partner for remote monitoring of temperature.

What is this frost detection kit made up of?

This kit comes with two RH sensors to measure dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature, dew point, and relative humidity in two separate locations within your crops; whether it concerns apple blossom, pear blossom, cherry blossom, plum blossom in orchards, or grape flowers in vineyards.

The additional 5m sensor extension cable allows you to place the sensors at different locations or at different heights in trees. This gives you a better understanding of the temperature conditions surrounding your crops.

Thanks to the solar panel and grid power supply, Reporter can be powered anywhere. Just pick the option that works best for you!

All components of the system are suitable for outdoor use. Two additional sensors and accessories like a relay output module can be added to the system.

1 year subscription included

Reporter requires a yearly subscription to operate. The subscription covers things like connectivity and use of the Crodeon Dashboard. This kit has a 12 months subscription included.

FAQ

Can I combine the solar panel and the grid power supply on one device?

No, not simultaneously at least. You can however pre charge your device (Reporter) through the grid power charger and then switch to the solar panel when you install the system outdoors. We even recommend precharging your device.

If you happen to have outdoor power sockets in your vineyard you can choose to let the system operate on grid power indefinitely.

Do I need a Wi-Fi network for the data transmission?

No, Reporter connects to the cellular data network (2G and 4G GSM network). This means that as long as your phone has a data connection Reporter should be able to work too.

What happens to Reporter’s battery during night time and cloudy days?

A solar panel needs sunlight to produce energy, but of course we don’t always have access to sufficient sunlight. This is why Reporter comes equipped with a sufficiently large battery to provide enough electricity, even during periods without sunlight. Can I only use 5m extension cables?

Our sensor extension cables are available in 5-20 metres. Add extra cables to your cart if need more or longer extension cables.

Can I add more sensors?

Yes! Every Reporter has four sensor ports. This means that you can add two additional sensors to your Reporter such as: an all-in-one weather sensor, leaf wetness sensor, soil moisture sensors, dendrometer, PAR light sensor, etc.

How does this kit protect my future harvest?

This kit helps you protect your future harvest (fruit blossom) by warning you in real-time about temperatures lower than your set threshold. This allows you to take action immediately by setting other protective measures in motion such as heaters or sprinklers.

Without a timely warning your fruit blossoms would likely freeze and die, causing you to have less fruit during harvest time.
